Chemical Biology

UCLA Chemical Biology involves the use of chemistry techniques and molecules to understand, influence, and manipulate living systems. UCLA has a great research environment, with strong Chemistry and Biochemistry groups housed in the same department and in close cooperation on facilities and interests. Facilities and programs are also shared with medical school departments such as Biological Chemistry, Molecular and Medical Pharmacology, and the Molecular Biology Institute, the California NanoSystems Institute, and the Chemistry-Biology Interface Training Program. Students interested in Chemical Biology can apply to any of the divisions in Chemistry and Biochemistry, and can participate in these activities.
