Proteomics and Bioinformatics

UCLA Proteomics and Bioinformatics uses a combination of experimental and computational approaches to analyze and predict proteome function and regulation. UCLA has long had a tradition of integrating experimental and computational analysis to predict protein structure and function, with superb resources in x-ray crystallography, NMR, mass spectrometry, and bioinformatics, as well as a strong research program on RNA structure and function, including splicing and alternative splicing. Proteomics and Bioinformatics faculty draw upon the extensive resources of the UCLA-DOE Institute for Genomics and Proteomics, the Molecular Biology Institute, the Center for Computational Biology, and the larger UCLA bioinformatics research community spanning the Schools of Engineering, Medicine, and the Colleges of Physical and Life Sciences. Students applying to Chemistry and Biochemistry gain access to this wide range of research opportunities and resources in Proteomics and Bioinformatics.
