A Short Biography:

Dr. Bacher received his diploma in 1989 and his Ph.D. in 1992, both at the Philipps Universität in Marburg/Germany (Advisor: Prof. Dr. U. Müller). After working as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles from 1995-2001, he joined the faculty at UCLA in 2001.

Detailed Biography:

Dr. Bacher has been a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Chemistry from 1995-2001, during which he collaborated with several faculty members inside and outside the department. During this time he also served the department as teaching assistant and instructor for various laboratory courses ranging from organic chemistry to advanced inorganic chemistry and chemical instrumentation. During this time he also worked as laboratory instructor at Santa Monica College (1998) and Mount St. Mary's College (2000-2001) for general and organic laboratory courses. Since 2001, he has been responsible for the two organic laboratory courses in the lower division, and since 2004 also for the upper division inorganic laboratory course.
